Jenelle Evans married Courtland Rogers on December 4th, 2012 and officially and legally separated on April 23rd, 2013. April 23rd was the day Jenelle and Courtland were arrested on charges for heroin possession, possession of paraphernalia, and simple assault. Jenelle has been legally separated from her estranged husband since the arrest.
There is a weird law in the state of North Carolina, that restricts couples to getting a divorce until they’ve been legally separated for one whole year. Weird, right? Yes, but none the less, the law in North Carolina. Jenelle Evans has patiently waited since that day in April of 2013, and sat quietly, ready to file for divorce.
A lot has changed in that time for both Jenelle AND Courtland. Courtland has spent most of his time actually in jail, or out dating other women, while Jenelle actually started dating Nathan Griffith shortly after separating from Courtland. Jenelle and Nathan are now living together, and expecting their first baby together in early summer.
Jenelle tweeted over the weekend, “It’s almost divorce time…Lol getting pumped and excited!”. When a fan asked her if she and Nathan had plans to marry after that, Jenelle replied, “no we aren’t rushing into anything, only when the time is right. He wants to make it unforgettable.”
AWE! We are so happy to hear they are taking things slowly, and not jumping into the legal aspects of a relationship. One could argue that having a child is “rushing” into things, but Jenelle and Nathan made the conscious decision to try for a child together, and are very excited about baby Kaiser.
Fans are confused on how Jenelle’s estranged husband, Courtland Rogers feels about the upcoming divorce, because one minute he is asking her on twitter for a divorce, and the next minute we are hearing rumors he wants her back. Either way, it’s clear that these two have both moved on, and appear to be healthier without each other.
Jenelle is stable, sober, working, caring for Jace, and on the track of regaining custody of Jace very soon. This is the best she’s done in her entire life, and she plans on keeping on this path. We wish Nathan and Jenelle all the best!
